running gschem from the command line on Xfce on cauldron x86-64 and doing that seems to start konqueror with the pages . I installed geda using "urpmi geda". Perhaps you have missing packages, and can you try in a new user?

Yes this seems to be the case - although I think it's a packaging issue.

I installed gschem from mcc last night for a job I'm doing and here is the log from rpm:

libgeda-data-1.8.2-5.mga6.x86_64 Tue 04 Oct 2016 21:20:24 BST
lib64stroke0-0.5.1-22.mga6.x86_64 Tue 04 Oct 2016 21:20:24 BST
lib64geda42-1.8.2-5.mga6.x86_64 Tue 04 Oct 2016 21:20:24 BST
geda-symbols-1.8.2-5.mga6.x86_64 Tue 04 Oct 2016 21:20:24 BST
geda-gschem-1.8.2-5.mga6.x86_64 Tue 04 Oct 2016 21:20:24 BST

Installing gschem does not install the docs package.

I tested in a clean install of plasma and checked what was installed using urpmi geda:

[root@localhost baz]# urpmi geda
To satisfy dependencies, the following packages are going to be installed:
  Package Version Release Arch
(medium "Core Release")
  geda 1.8.2 5.mga6 x86_64
  geda-docs 1.8.2 5.mga6 x86_64 (recommended)
  geda-examples 1.8.2 5.mga6 x86_64 (recommended)
  geda-gattrib 1.8.2 5.mga6 x86_64
  geda-gnetlist 1.8.2 5.mga6 x86_64
  geda-gschem 1.8.2 5.mga6 x86_64
  geda-gsymcheck 1.8.2 5.mga6 x86_64
  geda-symbols 1.8.2 5.mga6 x86_64
  geda-utils 1.8.2 5.mga6 x86_64
  lib64geda42 1.8.2 5.mga6 x86_64
  lib64stroke0 0.5.1 22.mga6 x86_64
  libgeda-data 1.8.2 5.mga6 x86_64

So I would say that geda-docs should be recommended by geda-gschem, maybe -examples as well?

[baz@jackodesktop ~]$ urpmq --recommends geda
geda-docs
geda-examples
[baz@jackodesktop ~]$

[baz@jackodesktop ~]$ urpmq --recommends geda-gschem
[baz@jackodesktop ~]$

Cheers,
Barry
