Description aguador 2016-09-13 00:42:31 CEST
With E20 Enlightenment no longer supports XEMBED notifications. The only solution I have found is to install either trayer or stalonetray, neither of which appear in the repositories. Of the two, stalonetray is somewhat more configurable, which is why I recommend it.

In theory it is possible to use the libappindicator dbus based protocol in E. However, see the limitations noted in the now dated comment at openSUSE:

https://en.opensuse.org/Portal:Enlightenment

The libappindicator method requires more work, and I was not able to do it successfully on a non-Mageia installation.

FWIW I used the Fedora srpm (stalonetray-0.8.3-2.fc24.src.rpm) to install stalonetray on my Cauldron system without problems.

I think I have installed everything to enable libappindicator, but the E systray still works only selectively (e.g., with vlc, goldendict, and deadbeef).

Mageia Online applet and net_applet have now been modified to work with the E systray so I am closing this.

Release notes reflect that not all applications have libappindicators and an alternate systray is needed if notifications are wanted (e.g., parcellite, at the moment Evolution's appointment reminders). However, these are app-specific issues and not a legitimate Mageia bug.

Although I have not found a free-standing mga systray application that works with E, neither do I see a need to add stalonetray given that at least basic Mageia notifications now work with the E systray.
