Description Elmar Stellnberger 2016-08-30 21:01:59 CEST
Having installed Mageia 6 two times I had to manually install xrandr two times. To me it is a tool as basic as xinit or xterm. I believe it should be installed together with them as it is necessary to test graphics modes with non-preconfigured modelines (not possible with any desktop environment I know). Besides this if you do not boot into a full blown desktop environment like KDE then you need this little tool in order to set the graphics mode or activate an external screen. - just think of when you have an issue with X or your desktop environment and can`t do much about it because xrandr would miss. You may not always have the installation media handy and you may not always have an internet connection with your laptop - so pls. add xrandr along with the other default clients for Xorg.
