Hi David, Sorry for responding so late. I would like to see a screenshot of what you propose, can you upload it here and maybe also share it in this thread on the forum about how to contibute your art ideas for Mageia 2: https://forums.mageia.org/en/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=1274 (you can also join a flickr group for Mageia 2 artwork http://www.flickr.com/groups/Mageia-2-artwork) @ Thierry Which package should go in the rpm package field? Whichever it is, it is probably yours anyway. So maybe you can decide on what to do with this request CC:

marja11, thierry.vignaud Thanks for the response. I'm not an artist, but I'm sure someone could come up with something. Just to be clear, this request is for an existing RPM package called linux_logo, already available in Mandriva. It would just need an ASCII art Mageia logo to replace the Mandriva one. Thanks a lot for explaining, David, I didn't know it was an existing package. Do you mind putting the upstream link to the package in the URL: field? Summary:

mageia-artwork To be more clear, a color ANSI version of the Mageia logo would be needed. In the linux_logo source (at the URL on this bug) in logos/distributions/mandriva-banner.logo you can see the format. cat it to the console to see what it looks like. I believe logo_mageia.png (available on any Mageia 1 machine) would be a good basis. The closest I got was scaling this to 160x72 and converting it with Pansi (found on the internet). It's not quite good enough unfortunately. (In reply to comment #6) > The closest I got was scaling this to > 160x72 and converting it with Pansi (found on the internet). ANSI version of logo_mageia.png
Thanks Romain. I've attached the ANSI version of the logo I got from pansi.

Mageia ascii art logo integrated into the screenfetch script
While creating the package of screenfetch for Cauldron, I made a patch containing an ascii logo for Mageia.
I don't know if it's good enough or if it respects your requirements; it can surely be improved but I'm not an ascii artist.

pasotti.matteo If all we need is to convert the logo (with or without text) to ASCII, then there are numerous web services that can be used. I played around with this one: http://lunatic.no/ol/img2aschtml.php for exactly 1 minute, using the logo on the website as a base. Some of the results came out pretty nice. CC:

bogusman222 The big issue isn't getting an ASCII art version of the logo, although that is needed. The bigger one is getting an ANSI version. It uses escape codes to change the colors of pieces of the terminal/console. Check the reference in Comment 6 for an example. (sorry for the noise don't know what happen :/) Blocks:

text/plain I think that it is too late for Mga2, for this. Maybe as a request for Mga3. (In reply to comment #13) > I think that it is too late for Mga2, for this. > Maybe as a request for Mga3. Well, it just depends on how long it takes someone to hack up an ANSI logo. The software itself is working already.
