Steps to Reproduce:
1. Gnome sta1
2. Gnome classic session 3.20.1-1.mga6
3. start as root

Starting as root you get only empty windows.

Standard user is o.K. But Kate is missing.
If Kate is installed, you have to edit the path to Kate.

In Manjaro 16.06  the same Problem (Gnome 3.20).
Solved by using AUR-Version with QT5.
