Attachments: Screenshot of illegal characters, and correct text

Description Morgan Leijström 2016-08-06 12:23:33 CEST
Description of problem:

When there for selected package is no information for files, there is a text meaning "(not available)" but for me in swedish.

(BTW this eem to be a difference to drakxtools where there is no text there at all then)

That text contain a mistake so illegal character are shown.
See attached screenshot

The text in same screenshot for when no change log is available is correct.
(so you can probably in the code just copy-paste that)

So it should be "Ingen tillgänglig" below "Filer:", too.

Isn't it a problem with a character set instead of a translation error?

Comment 3 Morgan Leijström 2016-08-07 22:38:16 CEST
Anyhow it is interesting that it display correctly one place and not the other.
Comment 4 Angelo Naselli 2016-08-08 11:43:55 CEST
Indeed, either for Files or Changelog the call to utf8::encode is performed in the same way as you can see:

http://gitweb.mageia.org/software/manatools/tree/lib/ManaTools/Rpmdragora/gui.pm#n350

and
http://gitweb.mageia.org/software/manatools/tree/lib/ManaTools/Rpmdragora/gui.pm#n366

I will make some tests.

BTW which packages do not have available files?
Comment 6 Morgan Leijström 2016-08-08 12:10:50 CEST
One detail that may or may not be translation is that the correct and wrong texts are aligned differently sideways. (sees screenshot)

(Yes now i am really picky, but while at it...) ;)

> BTW which packages do not have available files?

Yes that is strange too. squashfs-tools
-but checking now, it lists files.
Maybe it could not download latest (i forgot the name of the file it downloads to display that info) maybe some transient problem like not updated mirror
Comment 8 Angelo Naselli 2016-08-08 12:43:35 CEST
No problems i removed the changelog and files adding the not available string only... and i got it too.... i can now investigate better why it happens...
Comment 9 Marja Van Waes 2016-08-08 13:03:52 CEST
Re-assigning to Angelo, since he's working on it.

Thanks, Angelo :-)

No problem, I must have confused you by saying
> Isn't it a problem with a character set instead of a translation error?
and then assigning to i18n-bugs anyway ;-)

Please test new version and see if you have no regressions (showing rpm info: files, changelog, etc.) and if "Not available" is now shown correctly when translated
Comment 14 Morgan Leijström 2016-08-08 17:53:10 CEST
Please tell me how to perform the test; how do i make file and changelog absent?
Comment 15 Marja Van Waes 2016-08-08 21:07:50 CEST
The bug existed in Dutch, too, in the "Details" section:

the "ï" (i with two dots) in "geïnstalleerde" was shown as "ï"

manatools.x86_64-1.1.4-1.mga6 fixed that :-)

@ Morgan

I don't know, hope that Angelo will tell you.
Comment 16 Angelo Naselli 2016-08-09 08:51:10 CEST
@Morgan honestly i don't know how you caught it :D I just changed the code to force that output, and @Marja yes i got it in Italian and i should have removed it for all the hidden info. Not sure for the description though.
That's why i wanted to have a non-regression test.
Marja, maybe a pt or fr test should be performed since they used to translate
more, also into spec file sometimes...

As said on IRC last night, testing them showed that French correctly shows the "é" in "installé" and "installée", and that pt_BR correctly shows the "í" in "Mídia" and the tilde in its word for version.

I did not see any badly rendered characters.

2016:08:09:19:59 < anaselli> marja: please add a comment to that bug so that i can close it :)

Closing for you :-D
