6sta1 upgraded Mga5 x86_64 (6DE in1) to Mga6-sta1. Hexchat is default for "chat room" link, Mageia Welcome. there is an inconsistency that should be addressed Summary:

[6sta1]Migration bug: After upgrading Mga5 to Mga6 (i586), Polari set as default IRC client This report confuses me. Apart from that, I don't think it is a problem if the chatroom link in MageiaWelcome seems inconsistent about which chat client it starts, as long as it does correctly start one. However, I'll let the MageiaWelcome author decide whether he thinks this is bad for MageiaWelcome. CC:

marja11, napcok This report confuses me too. Can you rephrase it? I don't understand whether it's Polari or Hexchat that gets started by default from MageiaWelcome, as well as I don't know if that's specific to MageiaWelcome. Can you also check what client is started for irc:// URLs?

NEEDINFO (In reply to Samuel Verschelde from comment #3) > This report confuses me too. Can you rephrase it? I don't understand whether > it's Polari or Hexchat that gets started by default from MageiaWelcome, as > well as I don't know if that's specific to MageiaWelcome. Can you also check > what client is started for irc:// URLs? Mageia Welcome "chat room" link in Mate, Cinnamon, LXDE and Xfce (under M5) would launch Hexchat, when installed in a multiple DE environment. this has not changed. Mageia Welcome "chat room" link in Gnome (in M5) would have launched Polari, Mageia Welcome "chat room" link in KDE4 (in M5) would have launched Konversation, even when installed in a multiple DE environment. in the upgrade from Mga5 (6in1)i586 to Mga6 sta-1 Polari was default IRC client when launching from Mageia Welcome "chat room" link, when launched from XFCE, LXDE, Mate, Cinnamon, Gnome or Plasma5 have just completed an upgrade of Mga5 (6in1)x86-64 to Mga6 RC(rnd1) in this upgrade, Hexchat is the default IRC client when launching from Mageia Welcome "chat room" link, when launched from XFCE, LXDE, Mate, Cinnamon, Gnome or Plasma5 (In reply to Samuel Verschelde from comment #3) > This report confuses me too. Can you also check > what client is started for irc:// URLs? for clarity: Under MGA6 default IRCC when invoking "chat room" link from Mageia Welcome: plasma5 DE only install: IRCC is konversation, Gnome DE only install: IRCC is Polari Mate, Xfce, Cinnamon or LXDE DE only installs: IRCC is Hexchat

It seems you missed part of Samuel's reply: (In reply to Samuel Verschelde from comment #3) > Can you also check > what client is started for irc:// URLs? Can you still check that, please? The easiest way to do that, is to just click on: irc://irc.freenode.net/#mageia or on a link to one of our other IRC channels here: https://wiki.mageia.org/en/IRC#Project_channels_.28in_English.29
