Description Frédéric "LpSolit" Buclin 2016-07-05 19:13:00 CEST
I wanted to upgrade Mageia 5 to 6 sta1 (real 64-bit hardware). So I burnt Mageia-6-sta1-x86_64-DVD.iso on a DVD and rebooted, but the installer fails with:

"Une erreur est survenue.
Vous devez spécifier une partition de démarrage BIOS."

Basically: I need to specify a BIOS partition. When I click the "OK" button, the same error message is displayed again. I didn't try a clean install, because I don't want to loose my data.
Comment 1 Frédéric "LpSolit" Buclin 2016-07-06 01:00:08 CEST
Trying to install Mageia 6 sta1 on a separate HDD didn't help. When trying to install the boot loader, it fails with:

"Une erreur est survenue.
 grub2-install failed: installation pour la plate-forme i386-pc
grub2-install: attention: cette étiquette de partition GPT ne contient pas de partition d'amorçage BIOS; l'embarquage ne sera pas possible.
grub2-install: erreur: l'embarquage est impossible, il est pourtant nécessaire pour les installations interdisques.
  ... propagated."

Don't ask me to translate it, because I have no idea what "embarquage" and "étiquette" mean in this context.

Note that I selected "auto-partition" on the 2nd disk. Windows 10 and Mageia 5 are installed on the 1st disk.

Forget comment 1. The error was that my machine booted using the DVD in legacy (BIOS) mode. Rebooting in UEFI mode works, and I can now install Mageia 6 sta1 on the 2nd disk. Unfortunately, Mageia 6 is unable to start after reboot due to partition corruptions. But that's another bug.
