The short movie clips on that page play fine both with chromium 53.0.2763.0 on cauldron and with 51.0.2704.103 on mga5. The difference I see compared to youtube clips is that youtube uses opus for audio while facebook uses AAC. You can check yourself by browsing to chrome://media-internals in a different tab. Maybe the problem you see has something to do with the audio output setup? I don't use pulseaudio for example, so in my tests chromium outputs audio directly to ALSA. CC:

marja11 Dear Christiaan, Thanks for your answer. I am not sure wheter pulse is running. My desktop environment is GNOME 3.20.3. But the command "pulseaudio --check" returns nothing (if it is running it should return "0" I think, or?). Here the copied terminal content: [maximilian@localhost ~]$ pulseaudio --check [maximilian@localhost ~]$ When I try pulseaudio -D, I get the following error: E: [pulseaudio] main.c: Start des Daemons fehlgeschlagen. Here the output of the chrome://media-internals (perhaps it is helpful for finding a solution): Player properties render_id: 23 player_id: 55 pipeline_state: kPlaying event: PLAY url: blob:https%3A//www.facebook.com/e55305d8-111a-42e6-9032-230fc386198a duration: 45.6 info: Video codec: avc1.64001F found_audio_stream: true audio_codec_name: aac found_video_stream: true video_codec_name: h264 audio_dds: false audio_decoder: FFmpegAudioDecoder video_dds: false video_decoder: FFmpegVideoDecoder Controller properties 7:1 channel_layout: STEREO channels: 2 component_id: 1 component_type: 1 device_id: default device_type: pcm_low_latency effects: NO_EFFECTS frames_per_buffer: 1024 owner_id: 7 sample_rate: 44100 status: started render_process_id: 23 web_contents_title: Helene Fischer Stream 0:0 Properties channel_layout: STEREO channels: 2 component_id: 0 component_type: 2 device_id: device_type: pcm_low_latency effects: NO_EFFECTS frames_per_buffer: 1024 owner_id: 0 sample_rate: 44100 status: started volume: 1 PS: Indeed, the videos works also on my machine under Mageia 5 without problems. The problem occurs only in Mageia 6... Hello again, it is very wired. I have installed googles chrome (Version 51.0.2704.106 (64-bit), and there the audio of the video is not crackling. I am really puzzled. Can anyone confirm the audio problems? Dear all, After reinstalling, everything works fine. Perhaps I forgot to implement the taint repos in my previous installation. So I think the bug report is fixed. Sorry if the report was redundant?! Status:
