You must use "poweroff" instead of "halt" if you. This is the systemd behavior for a couple years now... See systemctl man page for details. Basically, halt == "systemctl halt" => the system is halted but not powered off poweroff == "systemctl poweroff" => the system is halted AND powered off Status:
