In 32 bits iso same (nothing) happens when "Release Notes" button is pressed in the step "License Agreement" at the very start of the graphical installer.

(I should have tried same when I was in 64 bit install but I may have forgotton to try it).

Hardware: x86_64 => All

Comment 3 Dick Gevers 2016-06-07 10:54:32 CEST
Testing classical iso (64 bits) dated 6th June.

Unless I am mistaken, the License Agreement screen has swapped links to the intended files for Help and Release Notes: I think the RN button leads to install/upgrade help and the Help button to the RN text.

Likewise during packages installing, the RN button leads to the install/upgrade help (unless I am hugely mistaken, testing in a hurry, sorry)

Summary: Button "Release Notes" shown during packages install does not pop up a window => Buttons Release Notes and Help during License Agreement and packages Installing and seem to have mixed destination files.

All I can say is that with a net install, "release notes" button works smoothly during pkgs install & "help button" works fine too in summary

result of pressing help button

Okay, so I tried aagin to be sure and conclusion has to be that an install on real hardware from a "hard" DVD optical disk behaves different,

I am attaching 1. the screen display when pressing the help button: the release notes are shown.

and 2. the result when the release notes button is pressed: this shows the installer help file.

(I am not completing this install but the report.bug.xz may be referred to that was attached to bug # 18647: same happened - being the completed install that lead me to today's comments here)
Comment 10 Thierry Vignaud 2016-06-07 22:12:19 CEST
I tried Mageia-6-sta1-x86_64-DVD.iso in a VM, everything worked fine (help at various stages, release notes, ...)

Maybe you've a cursor issue on that machine?
Comment 11 Dick Gevers 2016-06-08 00:56:45 CEST
Oh no, not any problem with that.

Hardware as here: https://wiki.mageia.org/en/QA_iso_hardware_list -> notebooks -> dvgevers

I am always and only testing burned DVD's on real hardware and I made d***d sure I pressed the right button and looked at the right result.

I don't disbelieve you, just note what I am seeing under my circumstances ;)
Comment 12 Thierry Vignaud 2016-06-17 11:33:29 CEST
Still an issue with latest iso?

Sorry but I cannot check it ATM: far away from my boxes for next 10 days, no access at this time.
Comment 14 Dick Gevers 2016-06-29 12:49:53 CEST
Sorry but still valid with 64 bit classical iso dated 20 June 2016
(with burned DVD on real hardware)

Comment 15 Dick Gevers 2016-06-29 12:58:08 CEST
Moreover, dutring packages install the "Release Notes" button provides a view to the overall installer help file and not the release notes

(Come to think of it, the installer could be okay but the destination files actually switched !?!? - although it is strange that only I seem to have this :((
)

That's the actual contents of the release notes:

Comment 18 Dick Gevers 2016-06-29 14:19:53 CEST
I am too old for this logic (not a criticism of you tv): so the help file says "Release Notes" and the "release notes" provide detailed installer help: this kind of reasoning is beyond me.

Comment 19 Thierry Vignaud 2016-06-29 15:34:34 CEST
I see what confuses you:
- we could add an explicit title in the actual release notes
- you got confused by the help page that describes what does the "release notes" button
Though it does say "To see what's new in this release of Mageia, click on the Release Notes button. "

So it's somewhat clear that's not the actual release notes.

I'll try to make clearer the actual release notes by adding a top title
Comment 20 Rémi Verschelde 2016-06-29 15:36:27 CEST
It would be nice to remove the initial mentions about translated pages, since they are not available from the installer.
Comment 21 Thierry Vignaud 2016-06-29 16:02:19 CEST
Fixed in next mageia-release (upload in progress)
Comment 22 Dick Gevers 2016-06-29 17:59:51 CEST
Thanks :)))
