The offending konsole.desktop file

Description Shlomi Fish 2016-04-29 12:37:08 CEST
Description of problem:

When I'm using my "shlomif" profile on mga v6 x86-64 and starting plasma 5 from startx , I am getting a wrong icon for konsole in the taskbar - an orange floating wheel instead of a terminal icon. It does not correspond to the terminal icon of konsole in its left-top corner, and the other taskbar application icons are fine.

I will provide a screenshot momentarily.

How reproducible:

Always.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. startx from my profile.
2. Start a konsole session.
3.

Did you try clearing the KDE icon cache?
mv /var/tmp/kdecache-shlomif/icon-cache.kcache /var/tmp/kdecache-shlomif/icon-cache.kcache_old
or even rename all of them under /var/tmp/kdecache-shlomif/
I think it needs to be done from a tty with DM stopped.

Thanks for trying to help, Barry. Moving away /var/tmp/kdecache-shlomif (or previously running the previous mv command ) does not seem to help - I still have the same symptom.

OK, I was now able to fix it in part by inspiration from your suggestion. What I did was:

mkdir ~/.local/share/applications--moved-away
mv ~/.local/share/applications/konsole.desktop \
 ~/.local/share/applications--moved-away

I had previous problems with the contents of ~/.l/s/applications in the past.

I'm going to attach the offending file.

Hi Marja!

I found out the source of the issue and fixed it, so it wasn't a permanent problem. So I think I'll resolve the bug.
