Description of problem:

On real hardware, M6, KDE, 64-bit, nvidia framebuffer

During normal operation of Audacity various components, like
buttons and indicators, appear and disappear. Clicking on
the space where they should be executes the expected action.

Confirming, I've seen this, too, but didn't really notice because I was focused on something else.

I was using Plasm5 as DE when this happened.

There are very many gtk warnings when starting Audacity from a konsole.

All this is a bug somewhere in GTK as in MGA5 this version of audacity has no bug.
I group all this bugs in one.
