Description of problem:
Trying to save an attachment from Thunderbird or download a file with Firefox onto the Desktop in Plasma I cannot see the saved file on the Desktop. I need to open Dolphin and navigate to the Desktop folder in order to see the saved file.

How reproducible:
Open an email with an attachment and try to save the attachment onto the desktop. Or save a download with firefox onto the Desktop.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Get a download with Firefox
2. Save to Desktop

I seems to be related how the desktop is configured.
Unlock widgets, right-click on the desktop, select Desktop Settings.
There select Layout and there Folder View and Apply and you can see files and folders directly on the desktop...
So maybe it is not a bug but a feature... :)

I already have it configured that way. Anyway, now I cannot even change desktop configuration. Plasma is giving me some trouble here :(

I guess that the problem is related to localisation! I have two desktop folders, one Arabic-localised and another non-localised one. Now I can save downloads on desktop and see them, even though I still cannot use SHIFT+DEL to delete them.
