Ok I found out that the possibility is there, but you have to go to the Mageia Control Center and manually adding the hidden network.

So my suggestion:
1) Adding a link to that option in the Network applet
2) Give a hint in the applet on how to establish something like this

What do you think?

@ Daniel

What do you want to do with this bug report?

I think your proposal is nice, but so far nobody reacted, so I'm not sure it is worth the effort.

You might be interested in bug 1367

Nobody reacted because for now, we don't have really maintainer for drakx-net (and some other bug package for the distro), I will post a mail in the next days for find somebody.

@ Manuel

So that's what you do when you're in a meeting :þ

Anyway, I changed the summary and added the word "new", because this issue isn't about a hidden network that is already known in MCC

Did you see Daniel was both the reporter and the assignee and had - when he still had enough time - been willing to do something about it, if some people had confirmed they'd like him to?

What is the use of finding another developer, if nobody wants the fix or the enhancement? (I don't know whether the net applet was ever meant to be able to do this)

Anyway, if it needs to be done, it can maybe be done by the same person who is going to fix 1367 (I'm not 100% sure that one is still valid, though)

If you think this bug report should stay open, please reassign to the bugsquad.

Hi,

This bug was filed against cauldron, but we do not have cauldron at the moment.

Please report whether this bug is still valid for Mageia 2.

Thanks :)

Cheers,
marja

hello

if there is no one to work on this.

perhaps it's time to switch to plasma applet network manager and network manager
which are mature and more advanced (functions and gui) than draxnet.
Comment 11 episteme promeneur 2012-07-17 09:09:17 CEST
mageia 2 x86_64

still valid
Comment 12 Marja Van Waes 2015-04-19 14:13:23 CEST
Sorry, but this bug saw no action since more than 2 yrs ago.
No cauldron package has stayed the same since then.

Closing as OLD

Please reopen if this report is still valid for _current_ cauldron and/or fully
updated Mageia 4

Don't close this.. it's STILL an issue with Mageia 5!

Hangups like this are why I question using Mageia for professional development. To get around this, I have to change my router configuration to test the setup. Because with the way it is, I can only connect to my router if it shows up in the list that I am forced to choose from.

How many YEARS does it take to add a "Connect to other network" button? Ridiculous.

We gladly accept patches for such _easy_ tasks.

Mageia 3 is long time gone. I'll close. Please reopen if it is still an issue.
