@ Herman Those translations are indeed wrong/missing There is nothing neoclust can do, this needs to be solved upstream. Maybe yurchor can push the correct ones upstream, CC'ing him CC:

Thanks for reporting this bug. The translation about "Deze paneel verwijderen" comes from the fact that paneel is a parameter. The English text is "Remove this %1" with a comment that %1 is the name of an applet. I changed the translation into "Dit %1 verwijderen", but this may give other wrong Dutch sentences. In my version of systemsettings on openSUSE Apply is translated. So this is something that needs to be solved in the distribution. CC:

f.de.kruijf (In reply to Freek de Kruijf from comment #6) Thank you very much for your very fast reply :-) > The translation about "Deze paneel verwijderen" comes from the fact that > paneel is a parameter. The English text is "Remove this %1" with a comment > that %1 is the name of an applet. Ouch, that'll give problems in many languages.... I suppose your developers are aware? > I changed the translation into "Dit %1 > verwijderen", but this may give other wrong Dutch sentences. Thanks, but it'll most likely give even more wrong Dutch sentences, because more Dutch words are male or female, both requiring "Deze", than neutral. Words imported from English are probably never neutral (computer, monitor, applet, software... they all require "Deze")..... "paneel" is probably one of very few neutral applet names. Maybe "%1 hier verwijderen" would be a better workaround?? > > In my version of systemsettings on openSUSE Apply is translated. So this is > something that needs to be solved in the distribution. Thanks for the feedback. @ neoclust, please read ^^^ (not sure whether I should remove "UPSTREAM" from the keywords for this issue, or leave it for the other issue in this report) (In reply to Marja van Waes from comment #7) > > The translation about "Deze paneel verwijderen" comes from the fact that > > paneel is a parameter. Yes, they should know. It is supposed to solve using Transcript since KDE 4. But such scripting is not an easy thing. https://techbase.kde.org/Localization/Concepts/Transcript BTW, I have translated "Remove this %1" as "Remove widget «%1»" into Ukrainian. @ Yuri
Thanks for the link and explanation, and for your translation of that string.
That's a good workaround, too. I only proposed "%1 hier verwijderen" ("hier" means "here") in case there's more than one, e.g. more than one panel. Merging your solution with mine gives "Widget %1 hier verwijderen".
However, Freek will take a good decision on what to do with the Deze/Dit problem.

kde is this better with current cauldron ? CC:

mageia I am not using Cauldron, but all sta2 versions up to now. And still the same. (In reply to Herman Viaene from comment #0) > Description of problem: > In Plasma some terms are either still shown in English, or badly worded > > > > Steps to Reproduce: > 1. Click on the Plasma panel, choose "Paneel opties" (Panel options), the > bottom item reads "Deze paneel verwijderen". It should read "Dit paneel > verwijderen. That's correct here, now, in a nl_NL cauldron that started as Mga5 and was upgraded immediately after last autumn > > 2. Start Systemsettings. In any option, the lower right button reads > "Apply". In a Dutch installation this should be "Toepassen" That's correct here, too (In reply to Herman Viaene from comment #12) > I am not using Cauldron, but all sta2 versions up to now. And still the same. Maybe for nl_BE the nl_NL translations could be used? (In reply to Herman Viaene from comment #12) > I am not using Cauldron, but all sta2 versions up to now. And still the same. Well sta2 is Cauldron, so you're using Cauldron :) @ Marja For me it is OK, there are no spelling differences between the two, and I don't know of any differences is computer-ese language use. (In reply to Herman Viaene from comment #15) > @ Marja > For me it is OK, there are no spelling differences between the two, and I > don't know of any differences is computer-ese language use. I had never heard of different translations for nl_BE and nl_NL either, but that was the only thing I could think of when I read this bug was 'still the same' for you ;) Closing as fixed, then.
