Description Philippe Makowski 2016-02-28 19:32:05 CET
Description of problem:
No X after nvidia340-340.96-1.mga5.nonfree update (https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=17603)

Seems that the latest update broke X on some platforms

Sorry I don't have much details, for what I remember the hardware is Acer AspireRevo with Nvidia ION https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acer_AspireRevo

another user reported something similar here https://forums.mageia.org/en/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=10814

I don't have accces to the box, and the end user is not familiar with the command line and don't speak English.

seems that the following can help to solve the problem :
1/ reinstall the packages either by urpme and urpmi, or via via "urpmi --replacepkgs --replacefiles".
packages are listed in https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=17603

2/ switch to nouveau using drakx11
