Description Thomas Bigot 2016-02-24 18:33:09 CET
Launching Kile leads to this message:

âNo editor component found. Please check your KDE installation.â

After validating, kile cannot be used (the interface does not respond).

I think it uses the KDE4 text editor component.

Comment 4 Nicolas Lécureuil 2017-03-15 10:23:46 CET
i think we should go the for the KF5 version of Kile
Comment 5 Yuri Chornoivan 2017-06-13 17:54:03 CEST
I have tested Kile 3.0 beta 1 on Mageia 6 (Cauldron, self-compiled kf5-based Kile from git/master) with no issues so far.

Comment 6 Jérôme Hénin 2017-07-28 22:38:20 CEST
Bumping severity to critical because this makes the package completely non-functional.

Solutions are either packaging a dev version of Kile as Nicolas said, or adding a KDE4 editor component and its dependencies (that doesn't seem practical).

Comment 7 Jérôme Hénin 2017-07-28 22:48:43 CEST
I see that our friends at Ubuntu are still shipping Kile 2.1.3 in all its KDE4 glory, even in Zesty (https://packages.ubuntu.com/zesty/kile) - so they made the other choice.
Comment 8 D Ude 2017-07-29 23:18:45 CEST
I have the same problem with Kile 2.1.3 in Mageia 6. Kate is installed and working:
lib64kate1-0.4.1-11.mga6
kate-handbook-16.12.3-2.mga6
kate-16.12.3-2.mga6

Comment 9 Olivier Delaune 2017-08-12 10:50:07 CEST
Agreed that a functional version has to be packaged

Hi,

kile 3.0b1 ported to Qt5/Kf5 is now updated on Cauldron and also on mga6/Core/Updates_testing repo!

Please test it, thanks in advance.

When I start this version, none of the build tools are defined by default. Running the System Check wizard gives a segfault:
