Description of problem: At first time login to to LXDE after single DE install [from [other] DE selection in installer] the default desktop presented is Openbox. LXDE is available from the drop-down list of desktop choices. It should be changed such that LXDE is the default as this is what would be expected.

How reproducible: every time


Steps to Reproduce:
1.Select only LXDE from the main,[ other ] installer options and complete the installation. reboot
2.at the login screen, check the available desktop choices and leave at "default"
3.at the login screen enter user name and password and enter
4.desktop presented is Openbox.
5.logout and choose LXDE and log back in.

Hi,

I have the same problem with Mageia-6-dev1-x86_64-DVD.iso.

I found two problems, in fact:

1) Openbox has the file /etc/X11/wmsession.d/26openbox whereas lxde-common does not have /etc/X11/wmsession.d/04LXDE anymore.  So "chksession -F" returns Openbox in place of LXDE, which is what is written in DESKTOP variable from the file /etc/sysconfig/desktop.

2) If I remove the file /etc/X11/wmsession.d/26openbox, chksession -F" returns "default" and, if I put that value in DESKTOP variable from /etc/sysconfig/desktop, then the default DE appears to be IceWM.

The package openbox-3.6.1-2.mga6 does not provide the file /etc/X11/wmsession.d/26openbox anymore.

Seems this needs Nico's patch for bug 17617, so setting this one to depend on that one.

Is Openbox the default desktop in your tests?  In my tests with the same ISO, the file /etc/sysconfig/desktop contains:
"""
DESKTOP=default
DISPLAYMANAGER=lxdm
"""
and the default desktop becomes IceWM.

Mageia welcome does not display desktop = unknown,

I admit I have never used openbox or IceWM as a rule, so missed the differences.

No problem.  I just feared I missed something in my own tests.

Now, I expect that bug will be solved with the resolution of bug 17617.

Are you sure that comment is not for bug 17975: [6sta1] Mageia Welcome page-1 links become unresponsive after opening a Firefox Window from MW (LXDE)?
