Description DariuszSki 2016-01-16 14:08:56 CET
Description of problem:
When I delete a file, usually in Dolphin, but can be other applications that allow file deletions ie photo apps. Some running KDE applications crash, like Kaffeine, Amarok, and the application the file was deleted in. KDE itself stays running, and the crashed applications can be restarted, although possibility of a zombie process from a crash.

To test that it was not my KDE settings causing a problem, I did the following.
-Logged out of KDE to console
-Renamed /home/username/.kde4 to something else.
-Login, which re-created .kde with a "clean" state.
-Delete a file, same crashing problem.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
Mageia 4.1.15-desktop-1.mga5, x86_64

How reproducible:
Just delete a file. Doesn't matter from what partition or drive.

Reproducible:

I forgot to add, if a file is deleted using console while in KDE, nothing crashes.

I'd say there a relation with inotify, but that's all I can say. Nicolas, any idea? Adding other packagers in CC in case they can bring some ideas.

Hi DariuszSki,

Thank you for having taken the needed time to report this issue!

We regret if this issue didn't get fixed.

Closing as OLD, because Mageia 5 has officially reached its End of Life on December 31st, 2017 https://blog.mageia.org/en/2017/11/07/mageia-5-eol-postponed/
It only continued to get important security updates since then, but non-security bugs have no chance of still getting fixed.

Marja
