Smtube hard requires smplayer even it's not real require to play videos.
It support lot of other video players too and can be installed without smplayer.
I suggest to change smtube to recommends between players it supports,make more sense when vlc is default video player.

Players it support are:mplayer smplayer mpv totem vlc gnome-mplayer dragon player.

Take a look this arch linux package it adds those players as optional.
None of those players are installed by default with smtube,only if user install that manually.

Done for Cauldron! now smtube recommend smplayer instead of hard requires it:

I'm not sure it's worth an update just for that, currently you can already use smtube with other players in Mageia 5, the only difference is that it forces you to have smplayer installed on the system.
