Description jeff deifik 2015-12-22 03:53:11 CET
I have a dell inspiron 5758.
It has a trackpad that supports multitouch.
This works well under windows 10 and knoppix 7.6
When mageia 5 starts, there is an message about detecting multiple trackpads.
This makes some sense, because using the windows 10 device manager, both a
HID compliant mouse and a PS/2 compliant mouse are displayed.

With mageia 5, I can move the mouse cursor around.
I can click on things with the 2 buttons.
However, if I do something like click on a menu bar and try to move around a window, that operation fails. I have to attach an external mouse to be able to do that. Since I can do that with knoppix 7.6, I think it should also work with
mageia.

Hi Jeff,

thanks for your bug report.

We need some more information.

What is the output of:

  rpm -qa | grep x11-driver-input-synaptics

Which files do you have in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/ ?

If there's a file with "synaptics" in the name, then what is its content?

I updated my laptop in the last week, and the problem has gone away.
I consider the issue resolved.
