julien.moragny Julien you forgot to provide an advisory ;o) Advisory : This package provide fusion-icon (tools to control compiz) which was missing from mageia 1 Source RPM : fusion-icon-0.1-2.1.mga1.src.rpm please test. Thanks This doesn't appear to require compiz? Testing i586 once compiz is installed it seems to work fine. I'm able to switch window managers, window decorators and access compiz config. Without compiz installed it failed to start. x86_64: For some reason I only have GTK window decorator available - using KDE but with GDM at the moment. $ rpm -qa | grep 'compiz\|fusion' | sort -u compiz-0.8.6-3.mga1 compiz-decorator-gtk-0.8.6-3.mga1 compiz-fusion-2010.0-3.mga1 compiz-fusion-plugins-extra-0.8.6-3.mga1 compiz-fusion-plugins-main-0.8.6-3.mga1 fusion-icon-0.1-2.1.mga1 lib64compiz0-0.8.6-3.mga1 lib64compizconfig0-0.8.4-4.mga1 lib64compizconfig-python-0.8.4-3.mga1 Switching window managers works without problems on the whole but when switching to Kwin it leaves a desktop panel in the middle of the screen until it is clicked. It does show errors when stated from console.. switching Kwin to compiz :- * Setting window manager to Compiz ... executing: compiz --replace --sm-disable --ignore-desktop-hints ccp compiz (core) - Error: Plugin 'text' not loaded. compiz (thumbnail) - Warn: No compatible text plugin found. compiz (cube) - Warn: Failed to load slide: /usr/share/compositing-wm/mandriva-top.png Not sure if these are normal or anything to do with fusion-icon either but it mentions mandriva-top.png Switching compiz back to Kwin:- * Setting window manager to KWin OpenGL vendor string: NVIDIA Corporation OpenGL renderer string: GeForce 8500 GT/PCI/SSE2 OpenGL version string: 3.3.0 NVIDIA 275.09.07 OpenGL shading language version string: 3.30 NVIDIA via Cg compiler Driver: NVIDIA Driver version: 275.9.7 GPU class: G80/G90 OpenGL version: 3.3 GLSL version: 3.30 X server version: 1.10.1 Linux kernel version: 2.6.38 Direct rendering: yes Requires strict binding: no GLSL shaders: yes Texture NPOT support: yes kwin(7714)/kdeui (KWindowInfo) KWindowInfo::desktop: Pass NET::WMDesktop to KWindowInfo kwin(7714)/kdeui (KWindowInfo) KWindowInfo::onAllDesktops: Pass NET::WMDesktop to KWindowInfo kwin(7714)/kdeui (KWindowInfo) KWindowInfo::desktop: Pass NET::WMDesktop to KWindowInfo kwin(7714)/kdeui (KWindowInfo) KWindowInfo::onAllDesktops: Pass NET::WMDesktop to KWindowInfo kwin(7714)/kdeui (KWindowInfo) KWindowInfo::desktop: Pass NET::WMDesktop to KWindowInfo kwin(7714)/kdeui (KWindowInfo) KWindowInfo::onAllDesktops: Pass NET::WMDesktop to KWindowInfo kwin(7714)/kdeui (KWindowInfo) KWindowInfo::desktop: Pass NET::WMDesktop to KWindowInfo kwin(7714)/kdeui (KWindowInfo) KWindowInfo::onAllDesktops: Pass NET::WMDesktop to KWindowInfo kwin(7714)/kdeui (KWindowInfo) KWindowInfo::desktop: Pass NET::WMDesktop to KWindowInfo kwin(7714)/kdeui (KWindowInfo) KWindowInfo::onAllDesktops: Pass NET::WMDesktop to KWindowInfo kwin(7714)/kdeui (KWindowInfo) KWindowInfo::desktop: Pass NET::WMDesktop to KWindowInfo kwin(7714)/kdeui (KWindowInfo) KWindowInfo::onAllDesktops: Pass NET::WMDesktop to KWindowInfo kwin(7714)/kdeui (KWindowInfo) KWindowInfo::desktop: Pass NET::WMDesktop to KWindowInfo kwin(7714)/kdeui (KWindowInfo) KWindowInfo::onAllDesktops: Pass NET::WMDesktop to KWindowInfo kwin(7714)/kdeui (KWindowInfo) KWindowInfo::desktop: Pass NET::WMDesktop to KWindowInfo kwin(7714)/kdeui (KWindowInfo) KWindowInfo::onAllDesktops: Pass NET::WMDesktop to KWindowInfo kwin(7714)/kdeui (KWindowInfo) KWindowInfo::desktop: Pass NET::WMDesktop to KWindowInfo kwin(7714)/kdeui (KWindowInfo) KWindowInfo::onAllDesktops: Pass NET::WMDesktop to KWindowInfo kwin(7714)/kdeui (KWindowInfo) KWindowInfo::desktop: Pass NET::WMDesktop to KWindowInfo kwin(7714)/kdeui (KWindowInfo) KWindowInfo::onAllDesktops: Pass NET::WMDesktop to KWindowInfo Fusion-icon does appear to work well though when compiz installed. Julien would you check this for possible errors please. Thankyou. Hi, thanks for your review, I will try to correct the issue.

qa-bugs Hi, the warning are related to compiz itself and kwin. For compiz, the mandriva-top.png file message has been corrected in cauldron & I would rather backport the 0.8.8 version than update 0.8.6 only for this message (there are other bugfixes with 0.8.8). The message related to text module occurs when "text plugin" is not selected in conf, it's the default configuration. I've added a Requires on compiz which should pull a decorator and let you choose which one you want (note: you can install both and switching from one to another with fusion icon). I don't use kde so I'm not sure of the meaning of the message with kwin. New package : Source RPM : fusion-icon-0.1-2.2.mga1.src.rpm thank you Tested OK i586. Switched decorators and managers without error. Assignee:

qa-bugs # urpmi fusion-icon In order to satisfy the 'compiz-decorator' dependency, one of the following packages is needed: 1- compiz-decorator-kde4-0.8.6-3.mga1.x86_64: KDE4 window decorator for compiz (to install) 2- compiz-decorator-gtk-0.8.6-3.mga1.x86_64: GTK window decorator for compiz (to install) What is your choice? (1-2) 2 To satisfy dependencies, the following packages are going to be installed: Package Version Release Arch (medium "Core Release (distrib1)") compiz 0.8.6 3.mga1 x86_64 compiz-decorator-gtk 0.8.6 3.mga1 x86_64 (medium "Core Updates Testing (distrib5)") fusion-icon 0.1 2.2.mga1 noarch 10MB of additional disk space will be used. 1.5MB of packages will be retrieved. Tested OK x86_64 Advisory : This package provides fusion-icon (tools to control compiz) which was missing from Mageia 1 Source RPM : fusion-icon-0.1-2.2.mga1.src.rpm Could sysadmin please push from core/updates_testing to core/updates Thankyou! RESOLVED Thanks for the package. :) I do think the name is unfortunate as a search for compiz in Software Installer fails to show the fusion icon package. I had to use Google to find out how to get the Compiz fusion icon in Mageia after installing Compiz. CC:
