Bug confirmed, I have uploaded a updated package for Mageia 5.

You can test this by simply starting lives.

Installed this and confirmed that it crashed on first attempt to launch (lives -debug) producing the error report above.
Restarting lives succeeds in launching it as reported above and it appears to have full functionality.  Tried out a Youtube MP4 video and extracted a section of the file successfully.

Installed the updates
lives-2.4.4-1.mga5
lib64weed0-2.4.4-1.mga5

This time lives started without any fuss.  Cleaned up directories as recommended and processed the same video clip.

It runs well at stratup

No testing functionalities.

lives crashed on startup as before.

Updated it and it launched without any problem.  Able to load a video file from the command line and process it.
