Attachments: cauldron VM with LXQt, showing the window list

Description Pavel Fric 2015-11-03 13:51:04 CET
A few days ago I´ve made the big change, "upgrade" from Mageia 5 to Cauldron to see some packages like Sayonara, Alexandra working, and found, that there is big problem with LXQt panel: the applications´s windows panel doesn´t work.

The panel, where the rectangles representing the applications appear, is empty, even if there is plenty of apps opened, and the application windows, when minimized, fully vanish and I don´t know where they are then, how to find them and maximize, even if they are probably working. It´s very inconvenient behaviour - never seen before.

Maybe now, when new version of LXQt was released is the time to update the packages to see, what is improved.

cauldron VM with LXQt, showing the window list

LXQt 0.10 was released last weekend, didn't get around to updating our packages.

Did you try to move away your lxqt configs and let them be created with default values? This is what I used as alias during testing phase:

alias lxqt_cleanup='rm -rf ~/.config/lxqt ; rm -rf ~/.config/pcmanfm-qt ; rm -f ~/.cache/menus/*; rm -rf ~/.cache/pcmanfm-qt ;'

Be aware that this wipes your lxqt and pcmanfm configuration, and also should rebuild the application menu.

In addition please check if you have a "task manager" configured, if not please add it to the panel in case it got lost. FWIW, I can't reproduce anymore, just wiped my configuration in a cauldron VM, logged out and back it with the default theme and config - window list is working just fine, see the attached screenshot.

First I used the complet deletion of the folders with config files in /home/pavel, but without effect, then I used the command above, but still without effect. The situation remains: the windows are vanisning during minimizing action.

Also I woul wait for new version.

Another special thing with LXQt is, that the GUI (Settings dialogs) remains mostly/quite a lot in English, even if I would expect it localized looking at stats on translation Pootle server. Also another reason, why I am aware, what the new version brings.

Thanks for all your help.

Hi, some news

now, after using KDE, and random try of LXQt (version 0.9.0 from February 2015) I see, that the application are visible in panel. Could it be, that, when I changed the style of decorations/color themes in KDE, somehow it influenced the LXQt appearance and thus I can see the text, icons borders in that part of the panel?

Sorry, could not reproduce. Please reopen if it reoccurs, including instructions how to reproduce it. and FWIW LXQt 0.10 has already been in cauldron for a few weeks now.
