I just wiped my initial reply, before sending it. Diskdrake is pre-installed and capable of formatting USB-keys However * it is a frightening tool for new users * we haven't documented step-by-step how to format a USB-key http://doc.mageia.org/mcc/5/en/content/drakdisk.html * it sometimes refuses to see a USB-key that isodumper does see For a start, it would be nice to have isodumper added to MCC, which should already have been done long ago. @ papoteur Do you mind attaching your patch(es) (if still valid with current drakconf) to this report? Hello, I have found my older patches. However, it was for insertion in "Hardware" tab, section "Other". This is probably the good place, but what is better? Local disks? System/Admnistration tools?

yves.brungard_mageia Not a drakxtools issue. There's 2 things to handle: - when embedded in mcc, isodumper must creates a Gtk.Plug instead of a Gtk.Window as top widget (when getting the --embbedded option) - we must add an entry in mcc Obviously, we must begin by the former. Papoteur, see the s-c-p example: http://svnweb.mageia.org/packages/cauldron/system-config-printer/current/SOURCES/system-config-printer-1.4.2-mga_custom-embedded_window.patch?revision=662858&view=markup Source RPM:

Sorry for the late reply, I didn't know what was better :-/ In System/Admnistration makes most sense now that it's in "System" in mpan :-) Would it be possible to make a starter in MCC for the current, libyui version of isodumper? If you don't feel at ease with this bug being assigned to you, then please reassign it to the mageiatools maintainers collectively. CC:

MCC with Isodumper
Here is my suggestion of installing Isodumper in MCC.
If OK, I can commit changes on gitweb.
Papoteur
Note that as Isodumper uses YUI, thus either GTK or Qt, I don"t think that it is possible to have it embedded. (In reply to papoteur from comment #5) > Created attachment 9783 [details] > MCC with Isodumper > > Here is my suggestion of installing Isodumper in MCC. > If OK, I can commit changes on gitweb. > Thanks for the fast reply :-) Maybe create a separate git branch for the changes, ask someone to package and push to cauldron updates_testing and then ask on dev ml for feedback? (In reply to papoteur from comment #6) > Note that as Isodumper uses YUI, thus either GTK or Qt, I don"t think that > it is possible to have it embedded. Yeah, that's what I thought. and that's why I think it should be pushed to updates_testing first. Could you please also add a starter for the ncurses version of isodumper to drakxconf http://gitweb.mageia.org/software/control-center/tree/drakxconf ? I tested locally by changing /usr/libexec/drakxconf line 41: { des => N("Partitions"), cmd => 'diskdrake' } into: { des => N("Partitions"), cmd => 'diskdrake' }, { des => N("Dump ISO or format USB key"), cmd => 'isodumper'} and that works well. I was afraid to have a too long description, so I shortened it there (Btw, it strikes me as odd that the description in your screenshot is "Writing ISO images on a USB device or formatting" while we don't have "Managing....", "Viewing....", "Importing..." and such in the description of other tools, but just "Manage.." "View..." "Import..". Did a native English speaker have a look at the description?)
