Description Piotr Mierzwinski 2015-09-18 22:23:24 CEST
Description of problem:
I have mounted 2 nfs resources (configured in /etc/fstab). I'm able to mount and unmount them using mount command.
When I try to shutdown or restart the system. Mageia is both resources are not able to be unmounted, so stopping system is never ending. On terminal screen I can see only counting of minutes with message similar to:
"(1 of 2) A stop job is running for /home/my_resource (10min 15s / 10 min 31s)"
Every 2 seconds first number is changing to 2 and back to 1.
Unfortunately I'm not able to stop it using Ctr+C, Ctr+Z, Ctrl+D, Escape. To stop it I need to use power button or hold Alt+Ctrl+Del by couple of seconds. Otherwise the system is never stopping.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
nfs-utils-1.3.0-6.mga6,
systemd-225-3.mga6

How reproducible:
Everytime

Steps to Reproduce:
1. mount nfs resource (2, I didn't test with 1) using entry in /etc/fstab.
   I have following:
   myhostname:/path/resource1 /home/user/resource_dir1 nfs rsize=8192,msize=8192,timeo=14,intr,nosuid
   myhostname:/path/resource2 /home/user/resource_dir2 nfs rsize=8192,msize=8192,timeo=14,intr,nosuid
2. Invoke shutdown or restart.
3. Switch to text screen by Escape to be able see the messages

If someone had reproduced this, then I would have assigned this bug to guillomovitch for nfs or colin for systemd.

@ Piotr

when a system hangs while shutting down, you can try pressing

Alt and SysRq simultaneously and, while keeping them pressed, typing the letters R,E,I,S,U,O one after another

I know the proper key shortcuts to restart or shut down the system, but this is only workaround. System should shut down without such help :/.

Anyway now (after mount nfs resources) I can observe that system is shutting down really long. I didn't count, but it may takes couple of minutes. In my opinion this is not proper behaviour, when Mageia 5 shuts down really quickly.

Summary: Mageia is not able to down due to no successful tries of unmounting nfs resources => Mageia is not able to shut down due to no successful tries of unmounting nfs resources

Comment 3 Piotr Mierzwinski 2016-04-03 00:49:10 CEST
After some last update it started to work correctly.

Today I have been positively surprised, when all my nfs resources have been mounted without parameter nfsvers=3 and when I chose "Shut down" option in Plasma5, system quite quickly shut down - like in Mageia 5.

Thus I close this issue.
