It seems that the problem is similar to an old one reported with a solution here:
https://bitbucket.org/france/transcode-tcforge/issues/4/segfault-at-end-of-pass-1-ffmpeg-mpeg4

I can confirm that replacing the tainted version of transcode with one rebuilt locally on mga5 with the patch applied works.

I'm not sure how to handle patches for a tainted package so would need help in fixing in the distro.
Attached the new spec file and the patch file

transcode itself is now working

However, I still have issues from k3b with at the end the following msgs:

[import_dvd.so] waiting...
=== last message repeated 2 times. ===
[export_xvid4.so] Error opening configuration file ./xvid4.cfg: No such file or directory
[[34;1mdecode_mpeg2.c[0m] libmpeg2 acceleration: mmxext
[transcode] Audio: using lame-3.99.5
[avilib.c] avi open error: avilib - Error opening AVI file
REASON: No such file or directory
[encoder.c] video export module error: open failed
[transcode] failed to open output

transcode command:
-----------------------
/usr/bin/transcode --nice 19 --log_no_color --progress_meter 2 --progress_rate 2 -i /dev/sr1 -x dvd -T 2,-1,1 -a 1 -j 0,0,0,0 -R 1,/tmp/kde-bruno/k3b_3.log -y xvid,null -o /dev/null -w 1200 -Z 768x576
/usr/bin/transcode --nice 19 --log_no_color --progress_meter 2 --progress_rate 2 -i /dev/sr1 -x dvd -T 2,-1,1 -a 1 -j 0,0,0,0 -R 2,/tmp/kde-bruno/k3b_3.log -y xvid -N 0x55 -b 128,1 -o "/tmp/kde-bruno/Wacky Races Vol 1 - Titre 02 (Français MPEG1 Layer III 2Ch).avi" -w 1200 -Z 768x576

If I launch the 2 last commands manually, the extraction works and I get the avi file without issue. And it's vewed correctly with vlc. Not sure what to do with all that :-(
Comment 9 Bruno Cornec 2015-09-16 00:02:19 CEST
So it seems that this is a different issue with k3b as I can use dvdrip with transcode successfully with the same DVD.

I think the patch is applied both for core and tainted, so no problem you can correct the transcode package...

I can't find anything was committed.

Assigning to all packagers collectively, since there's no registered maintainer for transcode.

Btw, does cauldron not have this issue?

Hi Bruno,

Thank you for having taken the needed time to report this issue!

Did this bug get fixed? If so, please change its status to RESOLVED - FIXED

If it didn't, then we regret that we weren't able to fix it in Mageia 5. Mageia 5 has officially reached its End of Life on December 31st, 2017 https://blog.mageia.org/en/2017/11/07/mageia-5-eol-postponed/
It only continued to get important security updates since then, because we were waiting for the big Plasma5 update in Mageia 6, that fixed many of the Mageia 5 => 6 upgrade issues.

If you haven't seen that this bug got fixed, then please check whether this bug still exists in Mageia 6. If it does, then please change the Version (near the top, at the left) to "6". If you know it exists in Cauldron, then change Version to Cauldron. If you see it in both Cauldron and Mageia 6, then please set Version to Cauldron and add MGA6TOO on the Whiteboard.

Thanks,
Marja

No reply, so closing as OLD since Mageia 5 is no longer maintained.
