I have tested kernel 4.2 in cauldron and nVidia driver fail to compile
with that kernel.

I have googled that it was an unexpected ABI change that is going to
be reverted in a future revision.
Could you add the patch to your 4.2 tree ?

The revert got merged upstream in 4.2.2 currently building
