Description Frédéric Wang 2015-09-05 17:52:51 CEST
The STIX fonts provide a wide coverage or mathematical and technical characters:

http://www.stixfonts.com/

A font with an OpenType MATH table is also needed by some Web rendering engines to display MathML. For example:

https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/MathML_Project/Fonts#Linux

Note: STIX 2 is in development and will probably be released soon...

(Also, note that some Linux distributions (such as Fedora) ship the fonts for the default installation so that it provides good rendering of math formulas and symbols by default. It would be great if STIX was pre-installed on Mageia by default)

Assigning this package request to all packagers collectively. On a voluntary basis, one of them might want to integrate it to the distribution and maintain it for bug and security fixes.

You might also want to join the packager team to maintain this piece of software: see https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Becoming_a_Mageia_Packager

Package requests should always be set to Cauldron ;-)

Anyway, joequant imported stix-fonts two years ago, and version 1.1.0 is in Mageia 6
