Description of problem:
Current version of cmake included in mga5 is 3.0.1.

The requirement to compile vlc-qt is to use at least cmake 3.0.2

Please update cmake 3.0.1 to 3.3.1

Sorry but this is not Arch Linux, we can't upgrade CMake in a stable release to a cutting edge version, it might compromise our ability to provide updates to other packages in the future (if they don't build with this new CMake).

Changing this to a request to update to CMake 3.0.2 which is the latest release in the 3.0.x branch: http://www.cmake.org/files/v3.0/

I tested locally on Mageia 5 x86_64 and it seems to work fine, both cmake and cmake-gui. I've only tested on one project so far though.
