According to upstream [1] LightDM 1.12 is no longer supported and will
receive no more updates. All users are encouraged to update to LightDM 1.14.

The bad news is that LightDM 1.14 EOLs in January 2016 so we'll probably have to update lightdm again in a few months.

Since July 2015 LightDM 1.12 is no longer supported according to upstream and will receive no more updates. Upstream encourages everyone to update LightDM 1.14. This update updates LightDM to the latest release in 1.14 series.

Testing MGA5 x64 real hardware

I happened to be already using lightDM, so updated what I had to:
 lightdm-1.14.2-1.mga5
 lightdm-gtk-greeter-common-2.0.1-1.mga5
 lib64lightdm-gobject1_0-1.14.2-1.mga5
 lightdm-gtk3-greeter-2.0.1-1.mga5
Note no QT elements on my system (I could have installed them, but they are clearly not used); nor the 'greeter' pkgs in the update list.
BTAIM I re-booted and the lightDM login screen looks & behaves just as before.
Update OK. [@Jani If this is insufficient, undo the Whiteboard].
