Description Hook 2015-08-05 15:20:49 CEST
Zanshin just released 0.2.2, which is a transitional release, as stated in the news item¹:

> From the user point of view you should not see any difference with the previous bugfix release, but Zanshin 0.2.2 is here to help the data transition toward the future Zanshin 0.3.

> It is especially interesting for users who want to test the bleeding edge and upcoming version as it is prepared. By using Zanshin 0.2.2 they will get forward and backward compatibility for their data allowing them to easily switch between versions.

It would be great if the Zanshin package could be bumped to 0.2.2 in Mageia 5 already.

Thanks for the notice. Judging by the description that you copied, this version typically does not fit our updates policy: it is as you state a transitional release to "help the data transition toward the future Zanshin 0.3" and "interesting for users who want to test the bleeding edge".

So basically this is a development release for the upcoming version 0.3, and would not be fit as an update to a stable distro.

It can be packaged in cauldron however.

Component: New RPM package request => RPM Packages
Version: 5 => Cauldron

Ervin, Zanshin main author, just confirmed that itâs a transitional, but not a bleeding edge release. Also that it is not needed for a later switch to 0.3, but would be needed if one wants to use 0.2 and 0.3 at the same time for a while or switch between the two.

That being said, I agree, Cauldron might be the better option.
