Description Bernard SIAUD 2011-06-06 15:26:03 CEST
System information :

uname -a
Linux localhost 2.6.38.7-desktop-1.mga #1 SMP Sun May 22 11:37:00 UTC 2011 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

hwinfo --gfxcard | grep -i -e model -e driver
Model: "Intel 965 GM"
Driver: "i915"
Driver Modules: "drm"
Driver Info #0:
Driver Info #1:
Model: "Intel Mobile GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics Controller"

Symptoms :

Impossible to setup screen resolution on a twinview setup. it seems that kdm configure the 2 monitors appropriately. KDE starts, the 2 monitors are in the right resolution and when krandrtray fires up, the screens setup revert to incorrect settings and then it is impossible to set it up (with krandrtray and xrandr). Commands used are :

xrandr --output LVDS1 --off
xrandr --output LVDS1 --mode 1280x800 --transform none
xrandr --output VGA1 --mode 1440x900 --transform none
xrandr --output VGA1 --left-of LVDS1

Screen flicker when fired, but screen resolution doesn't change.

Workaround :

When krandrtray is stopped, it is possible to setup screens resolution.

When screens setup is correct, if I start krandrtray again, the config stay still (that is correct). if I try to modify the config with krandrtray, it messses up configuration and revert config to incorrect settings and then it is impossoble to make whatever change. I had to stop krandrtray again.

How do you setup screen resolution? with systemsettings ?
Ksplash is working correctly on both screen & the problem occurs after ?
(for ksplash we in fact have an trunk patch for that purpose)
