Description of problem:
When acquiring an image via scanimage, the scan works perfectly fine the first time, but the second scan just hangs until it times out.

Can you please try whether today's upstream snapshot - or another one from after 1.0.24 release - fixes it?

(This bug has hit many users across many distro's, and I've read someone reporting that the 2 november 2014 snapshot already fixed it)

I tried the git snapshot from today, but that has a different problem, namely that the first scan successfully retrieves the image data, then outputs a <SOH> to the terminal and simply hangs.

[bertl@newhost SANE]$ ~/SANE/bin/scanimage -vp -l 100 -t 150 -x 100 -y 2 --format png >out.png
scanimage: scanning image of size 296x16 pixels at 24 bits/pixel
scanimage: acquiring RGB frame
scanimage: min/max graylevel value = 187/254
scanimage: read 14208 bytes in total
<SOH>

Note that it requests 16 lines instead of the 8 from 1.0.24 despite the same input.

It is basically the mandriva patches (i.e. those who still apply) ontop of the git snapshot from today.

The "Q&D" part is that I didn't bother to adjust things accordingly instead I created a symlink and added the git version as diff.

Only one problem so far, the gimp xscanimage plugin is recognized but the options are grayed out (maybe gimp is too old, maybe that was always so, haven't tested yet)
