NEW =>
UNCONFIRMED (In reply to Rémi Verschelde from comment #3) > Care to share how? I have successfully updated mageia4 with mgaapplet I think that /boot directory was fullfilled with old initrd-xxx.mga[23] because old packages from ancient mageia versions were left on my system [toto@mageia5_64 ~]$ rpm -qa | grep mga2 libgcj12-base-4.6.3-2.mga2 lib64x264_120-0.120-0.20120306.stable.1.mga2.tainted libmng1-1.0.10-13.mga2 lib64gcj12-4.6.3-2.mga2 [tot@mageia5_64 ~]$ rpm -qa | grep mga3 lib64llvm3.2-3.2-5.mga3 libcdio13-0.83-3.mga3 libgcj13-base-4.7.2-8.1.mga3 libx264_125-0.125-0.20120914.stable.3.mga3.tainted libllvmradeon9.1.3-9.1.3-1.1.mga3.tainted lib64protobuf7-2.4.1-5.mga3 libllvmradeon9.1.7-9.1.7-1.1.mga3.tainted lib64cdio13-0.83-3.mga3 libllvm3.2-3.2-5.mga3 lib64llvmradeon9.1.3-9.1.3-1.1.mga3.tainted lib64png15_15-1.5.13-2.mga3 lib64gcj13-4.7.2-8.1.mga3 lib64llvmradeon9.1.7-9.1.7-1.1.mga3.tainted [alain4@mageia4_64 ~]$ Thanks for the explanations. It's still strange though that it generates old initrd for kernels that are no longer installed according to your "rpm -qa | grep mga[23]". Status:

RESOLVED (In reply to Rémi Verschelde from comment #5) > Thanks for the explanations. It's still strange though that it generates old > initrd for kernels that are no longer installed according to your "rpm -qa | > grep mga[23]". and what have I to do with these old packages? may I safely discard them? (In reply to alain deraedt from comment #6) > > and what have I to do with these old packages? may I safely discard them? Yes you can remove them without any issue, unless you are using a soft that you built yourself under mga2 or mga3 and that links against some of those libraries. OK, thank you |
