Hello,

Description of problem:
with the driver included in mageia 5, the stylus sx435w bad prints with blurred impression.

How reproducible:
1 / have a epson stylus sx435w
2 / choose the drakprint drivers approaching as close as the printer
3 / test

In french:
1/ avoir une epson stylus sx435w
2/ choisir dans le drakprint les pilotes se rapprochant le plus pres de l'imprimante
3/ tester

@ Anyone reading this:

* If this bug is valid for you in cauldron, then please test whether updating your system-config-printer packages to version 1.5.7-5.mga6 fixes the problem and report back in this bug report.

* If you do not have this bug in cauldron, but you do run cauldron, then please update those packages, too, and report in bug 18367 whether they work as expected.

Assigning this package request to all packagers collectively. On a voluntary basis, one of them might want to integrate it to the distribution and maintain it for bug and security fixes.

Sorry, bugs@ml and pkg-bugs@ml members, for the avalanche.

72 bugs with the "New RPM package request" component, had a severity of "normal" or more, which can lead to losing precious time when searching Bugzilla for bugs that urgently need to get fixed

Now mass-changing that to "enhancement", as it should be for package requests.

The only package with epson printer drivers that we have, is epsoneplijs which is for different printers. Apart from that, it is unmaintained upstream https://sourceforge.net/projects/epsonepl/files/

I don't know whether there's a similar project somewhere.

It seems the only way to get a recent Epson printer working, is to download the driver from the Epson website, as said in this section of our MCC manual:

(Version was set to cauldron, because new packages need to be in cauldron first, before they can be backported to stable, but still maintained, versions)
