There were a few bugfix updates for git 2.3.x after the last update we pushed (including at least one segfault fix).  I guess they don't develop 2.3.x anymore since they're on to 2.4.x now, but that has incompatible changes so we can stick with 2.3.8 as long as it works fine.  It shouldn't need any more updates unless there's a security bug later.
