Description of problem:
As presented, a new /etc/nail.rc does not contain enough information to properly configure it to work with Gmail, a commonly used mail service.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
nail-12.4-12.mga5

How reproducible:
install nail-12.4-12.mga5

Steps to Reproduce:
1. examine /etc/nail.rc
2. default confioguration will not work with Gmail.
3. What needs to be added to /etc/nail.rc (sorry, I don't know how to format it as apatch): 

#Make sure that POP is enabled in your Gmail Settings.
#These configurations are needed only for Gmail SMTP
#Uncomment all lines below beginning wuth "set"

#set smtp-use-starttls

#set from=USERNAME@gmail.com

#set smtp=smtp.gmail.com:587

#set smtp-auth-user=USERNAME

#set auth-login=USERNAME

#set smtp-auth-password=PASSWORD

#Substitute your own account name for USERNAME and your own password for PASSWORD.
#Gmail does not use the standard port 25 for SMTP. Use port 587 for GMail;

Hi Hoyt,

The nail.rc as shipped with Mageia is the stock one from upstream. Configuring mailx for use with gmail is but one of the possibilities that mailx can be used for. At the top of the file it refers to the manpage detailing all of the configuration options.

Furthermore, your page is among the first that come up when googling for using nail/mailx with gmail, so those interested in doing this will be able to do so thanks to you; Good job!

For those reasons, I don't think we should amend this package for just this use alone. If you feel it would add value, perhaps you can file a report with upstream so everyone, not just Mageia users, can benefit from having this information more readily available in the nail.rc.
