joequant I've done a bit of research, and it looks like changing the font color requires editing the GTK+3 theme directly... cf. https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Cinnamon#Desktop_Icons_Text_Color A prerequisite to fix this bug might be to fix bug 15844 by defining "adwaita" as default GTK+ theme instead of "oxygen-gtk" here: http://svnweb.mageia.org/packages/cauldron/cinnamon/current/SOURCES/cinnamon-mageia.gschema.override?view=markup Is there anyway of fixing this without changing the gtk+3 theme (i.e. through nemo only files). I don't want to muck with gtk+3 packages this late in the release. I searched for a while but couldn't find much info apart from how to edit the GTK+3 theme directly. I've tested it and it works, though I also find it pretty messy, but it looks like that's what GNOME/GTK+3 devs like. The GTK+3 changes are nemo-specific though, so they should not harm other components (hopefully..). If you can find a way to change the color in Cinnamon's gschema.overrides though, it would be great. I'll play with this in nemo. It should be possible.

shlomif The default font color for the desktop is now white. Standard theme is now Adwaita. This bug got somehow forgotten to get closed. Closing as FIXED. Status:
