release_blocker Add to note that I also choose to wipe and erase partition before I made the misstake. In my experience which is mostly using Custom partitioning, it does ask you before it formats any partitions. If there is a use-case where it doesn't do this, it should be fixed. This bug report needs more details explaning what options were chosen and what happened. Sorry, I mean that I chose "Erase and use entire disk". http://docteam.mageia.nl/en/installer/content/images/dx2-doPartitionDisks.png It doesn't ask you, it TELLS you that it will be wiped. That's a difference according to me. Indeed, if it doesn't tell you *which* disk it will be erasing and ask you to confirm before doing so, that's a problem. (and no, the disk viewer at the top is not sufficient to make that clear) CC:

thierry.vignaud (In reply to Kristoffer Grundström from comment #4) > It doesn't ask you, it TELLS you that it will be wiped. That's a difference > according to me. Does it let you go back if you don't agree with what it tells you? If so this bug report is an enhancement request and absolutely not a release_blocker. Yeah, it lets you go back to change it, but it would be less hard to miss even if you're tired. Changing to Enhancement. Priority:

Mageia 5 I agree the message could be made more user-friendly. Let's work on this for Mageia 6, there are more pressing matters for Mageia 5 so close to the release. (In reply to Kristoffer Grundström from comment #3) > Sorry, I mean that I chose "Erase and use entire disk". > > http://docteam.mageia.nl/en/installer/content/images/dx2-doPartitionDisks.png After choosing to erase and use an entire disk in the above linked-to screen, you get this screen: http://docteam.mageia.nl/en/installer/content/takeOverHdConfirm.html It tells you which disk it is about to use, and you can choose to go back by clicking "Previous". You can even click a help button for more clarification Kristoffer, are you really sure it is a good idea to use a partioning tool, inside or outside installer, when you're tired? The message: ALL existing partitions and their data will be lost on drive sdX (<size>, <brand>, <type> is deliberately _not_ wrapped up in friendly words. More words => less chance that users see the important part. Friendlier words => less chance to alarm a user. CC:

marja11 It's well established that the partitioner in the installer needs some work, but if it gives you the screen that Marja just showed, then this particular bug is INVALID. (In reply to David Walser from comment #10) > It's well established that the partitioner in the installer needs some work, > but if it gives you the screen that Marja just showed, then this particular > bug is INVALID. Yes, after choosing "Erase and use Entire Disk" in the screen Kristoffer linked to, then you get the screen I showed. I agree it is better to close this bug as invalid. Status:
