Description Yves Specht 2015-04-30 22:58:41 CEST
Mageia 5 RC: Can not be installed on a PC equipped with an ASUS motherboard

- Motherboard: A8N-SLI Premium
- Graphics Card: Gigabyte (GeForce 6100)
- RAM: 4 GB
- HD: 1 x Seagate 160 GB -> / boot, swap, / home, / tmp SATA
            3 X 160 GB Seagate -> RAID 5 -> /, / var SATA
- CD / DVD: HP DVD640 PATA
- Mouse: Logitech M185 (wireless)

BIOS default settings (only the order in the accounts of the CD / DVD has been placed before the hard disks) in the panel "Boot".

In the "PLEASE CHOOSE A LANGUAGE TO USE" panel

The mouse freezes as soon as one wants to choose the installation language (not down to French for example).

This problem already existed on Mageia 4. I had to install the Mageia 3, upgrade it, and make a migration to Mageia 4 by network.

Is this with classical isos or live isos ?

Please try both alternatives...

Do you have the latest bios installed ?

Does the rest of the computer work when mouse freezes ?

Can you switch to a console with "Control Alt F2" and see if you get any errors... ?

We would also need you to attach (not paste) output of "lspcidrak -v"

If possible, I suggest trying another mouse, preferably a wired one USB and PS/2 (who knows whether interrupt conflicts might be at play here...).

BTW, my Sempron computer has an ASUS motherboard and I use a Geforce 6200 with Nouveau. Everything works.

In certain BIOSes there's a setting called "USB Legacy mode": I found USB external HDs won't work when it's on... might be worth changing.

I solved this problem with 'VGA=787" after F3 or F6 ? kernel options
