@ Jude Please open a konsole/terminal and give the following commands: rpm -qa | grep juk and lspcidrake -v | grep -i audio and paste the output of those commands in a comment in this bug report. I just tried in cauldron, with juk-4.14.3-1.mga5.x86_64.rpm and didn't notice this issue, but my ears may be too bad to notice hisses and such. Anyway, assigning to maintainer. He'll have better ears than me :-) CC:

NEEDINFO Hi Marja, Below are the details as requested. This happens usually when i play a game like hedgewars and also keep juk playing simultaneously. Will attach pics again when this issue crops up again. as of now i have the below.... [ashvin@wolf ~]$ su - Password: [root@wolf ~]# rpm -qa | grep juk juk-handbook-4.14.3-1.mga5 juk-4.14.3-1.mga5 [root@wolf ~]# lspcidrake -v | grep -i audio snd_hda_intel : Intel Corporation|5 Series/3400 Series Chipset High Definition Audio [MULTIMEDIA_AUDIO_DEV] (vendor:8086 device:3b56 subv:1043 subd:8415) (rev: 06) [root@wolf ~]# Created attachment 6209 [details]

Summary:
Audio sounds like a lot of jingles on first start. =>
Audio sounds a lot rough on first start. Have changed the title of the bug to reflect the actual event. When i play hedgewars and juk on opensuse kde i have no issues with the rough audio with crackles. This needs to be straightened out for a flawless Mageia experience i feel :) The pics uploaded may give you an idea of the problem. I then play with the sliders for hedgewars and juk for this problem to go away completely. When I saw you had added attachments, I thought they were soundfiles recorded with another device, so that we'd be able to hear the difference ;-) I hope Nicolas (the maintainer of juk) will be able to reproduce the issue, that'll increase the chance the cause will be found Keywords:

2 Juk volume sliders
When juk is playing i see 2 volume sliders.
As my latest snapshot upload shows 2 volume sliders for juk, the one on the right is the one that works and the one on the left to the working slider is not working. Sometimes i notice a track playing over the same playing track i.e: one track plays twice. Can someone find out what's going on? The below are some details of the sound card. I have changed my motherb 1 month back so a difference between the previous results of the commands: [wolf@wolf ~]$ rpm -qa | grep juk juk-handbook-4.14.3-1.mga5 juk-4.14.3-1.mga5 [wolf@wolf ~]$ lspcidrake -v | grep -i audio snd_hda_intel : Intel Corporation|8 Series/C220 Series Chipset High Definition Audio Controller [MULTIMEDIA_AUDIO_DEV] (vendor:8086 device:8c20 subv:1043 subd:8576) (rev: 05)
