Screen shot of how my Preference Media look. I'm unable to make changes.
Do you have any media players or relevant applications installed? I have vlc media player installed and i can select it for dvd video and cd audio. Caja, autoruns applications which have supports x-content/video-dvd mimetype for dvd video, x-content/audio-cdda mimetype for cd audio, x-content/audio-player mimetype for music player, x-content/image-dcf for photos and x-content/software for software. If you installed ie. media player but does not have support for x-content/video-dvd mimetype then it doesn't show that application. Like smplayer. A workaround is adding those mimetype assaciations to your ~/.local/share/applications/mimeapps.list. Like this: x-content/audio-cdda=rhythmbox.desktop; x-content/video-dvd=smplayer.desktop; x-content/audio-player=rhythmbox.desktop; x-content/image-dcf=eom.desktop; So, i think this is not a caja bug but something about those applications. I do have apps installed. Here is a copy of my mimeapps.list, which doesn't look like your example: [saptech@localhost ~]$ cat ~/.local/share/applications/mimeapps.list [Added Associations] application/x-extension-htm=userapp-Firefox-WT49VW.desktop; application/x-extension-html=userapp-Firefox-WT49VW.desktop; application/x-extension-shtml=userapp-Firefox-WT49VW.desktop; application/x-extension-xht=userapp-Firefox-WT49VW.desktop; application/x-extension-xhtml=userapp-Firefox-WT49VW.desktop; application/x-ole-storage=libreoffice-writer.desktop; application/xhtml+xml=userapp-Firefox-WT49VW.desktop; audio/mpeg=audacious.desktop;smplayer_enqueue.desktop;totem.desktop;vlc.desktop;rhythmbox.desktop;mplayer.desktop;smplayer.desktop; text/html=userapp-Firefox-WT49VW.desktop; video/mp4=totem.desktop; video/x-flv=totem.desktop; x-scheme-handler/chrome=userapp-Firefox-WT49VW.desktop; x-scheme-handler/ftp=userapp-Firefox-WT49VW.desktop; x-scheme-handler/http=userapp-Firefox-WT49VW.desktop; x-scheme-handler/https=userapp-Firefox-WT49VW.desktop; [Default Applications] application/x-extension-htm=userapp-Firefox-WT49VW.desktop application/x-extension-html=userapp-Firefox-WT49VW.desktop application/x-extension-shtml=userapp-Firefox-WT49VW.desktop application/x-extension-xht=userapp-Firefox-WT49VW.desktop application/x-extension-xhtml=userapp-Firefox-WT49VW.desktop application/xhtml+xml=userapp-Firefox-WT49VW.desktop text/html=userapp-Firefox-WT49VW.desktop x-scheme-handler/chrome=userapp-Firefox-WT49VW.desktop x-scheme-handler/ftp=userapp-Firefox-WT49VW.desktop x-scheme-handler/http=userapp-Firefox-WT49VW.desktop x-scheme-handler/https=userapp-Firefox-WT49VW.desktop [saptech@localhost ~]$ Do you think I should rename this and create a new one like your example? Thnx. I guess this is not a bug. Some reason I didn't have VLC & Audacious installed after doing a backup restore from an earlier backup. Everything seems to be showing in the Media mimeapps execpt for Photos. I do have gwenview, gimp & eye of mate installed and have been since restoring from the backup. I'll try to figure out why Photos doesn't have an app set for it. Sorry for any inconviences I may have caused. Thnx. (In reply to Stephen Pettin from comment #4) > I guess this is not a bug. Then you may consider mark this bug report as RESOLVED and INVALID if there is no problem. Is it truly INVALID? Before installing VLC & Audacious, I already had Amarok, mplayer & smplayer installed and it's not displaying them at all. Photos do not have anything associated with it (grayed out). I just did a fresh install of Mageia 5 Beta 3 & Mate, and the Preference Media is working as it should except for Photos. It is still grayed out even though I have Gwenview & Eye of Mate image viewer installed. This can be closed and made Invalid due to user error. You need to install a photo managament application, like shotwell or digikam. That media option is for importing photos. Anyway, closing this bug report. Status:
