Description Jüri Ivask 2015-01-28 10:24:13 CET
Description of problem: Plasma 5 release is not using the xembed based system tray anymore.
To display Qt4 applications (icluding Skype) icons in Plasma5 system tray, sni-qt and a patch to Qt 4.8 are needed.

sni-qt: https://launchpad.net/sni-qt
patch to Qt4.8: https://bazaar.launchpad.net/~indicator-applet-developers/sni-qt/trunk.13.04/view/head:/patches/qsystemtrayicon-plugin-system-4.7.4.diff

Also GTK2 and GTK3 support would be good, but (see above url)...
GTK2: needs libappindicator1 and all packages having an optional
dependency to it should get compiled with it.
GTK3: needs libappindicator3-1 and all packages having an optional
dependency to it should get compiled with it.

Thanks for the qt4.8 patch and sni-qt package!
Seems to work OK here - Skype icon is in Plasma5 system tray and working.
