In VirtualBox (4.3.20) everything works as expected, no errors

I haven't tried playing with the resolution in MCC, but I'll have to try that when I'm back at work. Have you tried kscreen? ("kcmshell4 kscreen" in a terminal is one easy way to run it) Maybe MCC isn't able to change to what you want because the resolution you chose just isn't accepted anymore. You might be seeing the same problem that I reported in Bug 14974.

David
Your suggestion help me. Thanks. It looks like that the sizes supported is for
16:9 relations not for the old 5:4 relation.

If you change the Monitor setting to something other than the 1024x768 that's probably already selected, you get more resolutions available (still not quite exactly what was available before). But switching it to Plug'n'play or 1280x1024 gets this to a point where it's clear that drakx11 is still working. All drakx11 does is write /etc/X11/xorg.conf. After that, it's up to X to work correctly.
