Description of problem:

Firefox and Thunderbird sometimes (sometimes it does not) fails to show up characters. For example t was such a a char, when I tried to write a t to the search field, it showed only a blank space. Also on the window decoration the buttons missed some characters. An example, that Cancel button showed up as _égse (the Hungarian for cancel, it should have been Mégse written, with M underlined).
The problem also affects thunderbird, which again sometimes does not show characters.

The issue started after updating the following packages:

This problem just vanished with a reboot.
