Description jeff deifik 2014-11-13 01:22:45 CET
Description of problem:

I installed mageia-4 using a dell 2405 monitor (1920x1200).
I upgraded my monitor to a benq running at 1920x1080.
Both were attached via a vga connector.
After booting with the new monitor, I get all the bios messages.
I get the boot menu.
When I select mageia-4, the screen goes blank.
The computer does boot successfully, because I can ssh in.
When I select mageia-4 safe mode, the screen displays all the linux booting
messages, and the computer is usable from the command prompt.

I updated all packages via urpmi 2014-11-12, and the problem still happens.

Installer and Release bugs should always be set to cauldron, because once the isos for a stable version have been created, they cannot be changed.

This bug was filed very long ago, for Mageia 4. Was this bug still valid for Mageia 5?

(If so, please do _not_ set the version to "5". Only asking because if it was still valid for Mageia 5, that then we'll know we'll have to pay attention to this issue when testing the 6 alpha's and later).

Please close this bug report if the problem was solved in Mageia 5hhhh

I believe you need to reconfigure the X server (e.g. using XFdrake in safe mode) to handle your new monitor.

Sorry for not getting back to you earlier, I guess by now you found a solution to use your monitor, so closing as OLD as it would probably be hard to reproduce.
