Description Dick Gevers 2014-11-04 13:58:04 CET
Description of problem:

Installed Mageia5 Beta1 from classical iso build 3 dated 31.OCT.2014 on real hardware (notebook in https://wiki.mageia.org/en/QA_iso_hardware_list#Notebooks )

No errors seen.

Rebooted to all desktops. Trying all different desktops, I see several times the error in a popup gui:

quote
Fatal error:
A fatal error occurred: unable to open rpmdb"
unquote

The machine is okay and urpmi.addmedia works alright.

Perhaps the current Cauldron already has a fix, dunno.

Could be wrong package. In case of yes, kindly do reassign.

I will attach report.bug.xz from that install.

And journalctl output for |grep rpm from that install taken from an active partition from the correct journal reads:

Nov 02 20:17:31 dvglt.homepower packagekitd[31771]: (packagekitd:31771): PackageKit-Urpmi-ERROR **: Backend needs to be ported to 0.8.x -- see backends/PORTING.txt for details
