Description David Walser 2014-10-27 16:59:18 CET
MariaDB through 5.5.39 was built with a bundled jemalloc improved malloc() implementation. See jemalloc's page for more info:
http://www.canonware.com/jemalloc/

MariaDB 5.5.40 removed the bundled copy of jemalloc from the source tarball and only builds with jemalloc if a system copy of the jemalloc library is detecting during the build.

This was not noticed when the mariadb 5.5.40 update was prepared (Bug 14304), but was noticed afterward by Oden.

We didn't previously have a system jemalloc library packaged for Mageia 3 and Mageia 4, so this package had to be imported with the update to fix this.

Advisory:
----------------------------------------

The MariaDB 5.5.40 update in MGASA-2014-0424 no longer used the jemalloc
improved malloc() implementation, which had previously been used in the
mariadb package.

This update provides a system jemalloc library and re-enables the use of
jemalloc in MariaDB.
